Hubei is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, in the southeast and northwest, when the meeting extends in all directions, Jingchu culture flourishes in the "integration", connecting Bashu and Wuyue, after thousands of years of exchanges and integration, it has become an important part of the long-standing Chinese civilization.

As the representative of Jingchu culture, the characteristics of Chu culture can be summarized as "six pillars" and "five spirits". The former is pure bronze casting, gorgeous and exquisite silk embroidery, exquisite wood and bamboo lacquerware, profound philosophy of Laozi and Zhuangzi, amazing literature of Qu Sao, and fantastic art music and dance. The latter is the spirit of hard work and entrepreneurship, the spirit of pioneering and enterprising, the spirit of openness and integration, the patriotic spirit of strengthening the army and defending the frontier, and the spirit of honesty and harmony. These "six pillars" and "five spirits" have a profound impact on the formation of the cultural characteristics of Jingchu.

Jingchu culture has never developed in isolation, but formed and developed in the process of communication, exchange and blending with other regional cultures in the Yangtze River Basin.

In terms of literature and art, the influence of Chu Ci spread far and wide in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and Li Bai and Su Shi, two great poets, were deeply influenced by it. The works of Song Yu, the founder of Han Fu, also influenced Sima Xiangru and Yang Xiong in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The singing of Peking Opera is mainly inherited from the Han Dynasty, and its performance form is integrated with the work of Anhui Hui troupe. Huangmei Opera, one of the five major operas in China, is named for its origin in Huangmei at the junction of Hubei, Anhui and Jiangxi.

In terms of science and technology, the contribution of Jingchu culture to Chinese science and technology is embodied in farming, bronze, movable-type printing and medicine. Among them, movable-type printing was bred in Jingchu, born in Wuyue, and became one of the "four great inventions" in ancient China, which greatly promoted the speed of the spread of Chinese culture.
