Yangtze Finless Porpoise Officially Becomes Wuhan’s City Mascot

On April 12, Wuhan officially launched its first direct international passenger route to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Flight MF8683, carrying over 150 passengers, departed from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport at 16:40, marking the first direct connection between Wuhan and the core Indonesian city, filling the gap in direct air passenger services between the two cities.

The direct flight route from Wuhan to Jakarta is operated exclusively by Xiamen Airlines, with four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, using Boeing 737-800MAX aircraft. The outbound flight departs Wuhan at 16:40 and arrives in Jakarta at 21:50 local time; the return flight takes off at 6:50 local time the next day and arrives back in Wuhan at 14:10, with a one-way flight duration of approximately 6 hours.

It is reported that Wuhan has launched or plans to launch four international routes for the 2026 summer and autumn flight season. The others are as follows: China Southern Airlines resumed the Wuhan–Seoul, South Korea route starting April 3; China Eastern Airlines launched the Wuhan–Vientiane, Laos route starting April 10; and AirAsia will launch the Wuhan–Kuala Lumpur route starting May 22.
