2025 Yangtze River Cultural and Art Season Kicks Off in Hubei.From September 12 to October 30, 2025, the 2025 Yangtze River Cultural and Art Season will be held across Hubei Province, featuring 12 major cultural and artistic activities that will unfold in succession, presenting a spectacular feast for audiences.
I. "Lighting Up the Yangtze River" Art Season Opening Ceremony
Time: September 12 (evening)
Location: Sanyang Square, Hankou River Beach, Wuhan
The event will feature a variety of cultural performances, including folk song singing, chime symphony, dance dramas, and a medley of world great rivers' theme songs. There will also be a drone light show, fireworks display, and a live interview program titled Scholars Talk about the Yangtze, inviting experts on Yangtze River culture.
Time: September 13 - October 12
Location: Hubei Provincial Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum
Approximately 120 artworks will be displayed, covering various forms such as Chinese painting, oil painting, and printmaking. A specialized academic seminar will also be held to showcase the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and historical transformations of the Yangtze River.

Time: September 16 - October 6
Location: Hubei Provincial Library
The exhibition will feature around 200 photographic works centered on themes such as the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the protection of the Yangtze River.
IV.The Yangtze River Impressions Film Week
Time: September 29 – October 30
Location: Wuhan, Qianjiang, and other locations
The week will include an opening ceremony, public welfare film screenings, and opera film exchange screenings. Twenty outstanding revolutionary war-themed films will be shown, including the high-definition restored version of The Red Guards on Honghu Lake. Fifteen opera films, including Dingjun Mountain, will be screened in Qianjiang City.

Location: Wuhan Qintai Concert Hall
Five concerts will be arranged to celebrate the song of the Yangtze River in the new era.

VI. "Dynamic Yangtze River" Stage Art Excellence Exhibition
Time: September 13 - October 25
Location: Wuhan
The event will invite national-level theater troupes such as the National Peking Opera Company and the China Oriental Performing Arts Group, as well as renowned theater groups along the Yangtze River, to present 17 high-quality performances. These will cover a wide range of art forms, including Peking opera, local operas, spoken drama, dance dramas, musicals, operas, ballets, and concerts.

Location: Wuhan, Yichang, Jingzhou, Tianmen, Yunmeng, and other locations
The event includes a high-quality development dialogue, an online audio-visual creation and field trip, the exhibition and screening of outstanding audio-visual works, and the online thematic promotion event "Why China? Living by the Yangtze River."
VIII. "Fragrance of Books along the Yangtze" Reading Week
Time: September 19 – October 26
Location: Wuhan, Huangshi, and Xinhua Bookstores across the province
The activities will include the 20th Central China Book Fair, reading salons, Books China Traveling to Ten Thousand Miles, new media cultural bloggers’ conference, the 21st National Local Edition Library Allocation Conference, Jiangchu Reading Seasoncelebrity events, youth red reading activities, classic recitations, releases of “Yangtze Good Books” and “Yangtze Good Products”, a people’s book purchasing month, and more.

Location: Wuhan, Huangshi, Ezhou, Huanggang, Xianning, Enshi, and other locations
The event includes three activities: a themed essay contest, specialized seminars, and the "Hubei Literature Night," aiming to empower the cultural heritage and development of the Yangtze River through literature.
Time: September 23 - October 30
Location: Wuhan, Jingzhou, Xiaogan
The exhibitions include "Brief Insights into China - An Exhibition of Unearthed Bamboo Slips in China," an exhibition of archaeological achievements from the Eastern Zhou period, and an exhibition of ancient cultural treasures from the Yangtze River basin, systematically showcasing the origins and development of Yangtze River civilization.
Time: September 23 - 27
Location: Wuhan
The event includes two main activities: the "Yangtze River High-End Think Tank Dialogue" and the "Great Rivers Dialogue," inviting domestic and international experts and scholars for discussions.
Time: October 30
Location: Yichang
The closing ceremony will be combined with the China Film Big Data and M榜 Film Channel Honor Ceremony, featuring three accompanying activities: an M榜 filmmaker meet-and-greet, a big data filmmaker dialogue, and the "Traces of the Three Gorges - CCTV6 Explores the City" live broadcast and check-in event.
